Karen Perkins, ED.
Coach

Karen Perkins has spent more than 30 years in the field of education with diverse and deep professional experience in instructional and literacy coaching.
 
She has seventeen years of specialized focus providing teacher development in literacy as:
  • Literacy Coach for Title 1 Elementary Schools
  • District Literacy Coach and trainer for Fresno Unifies School District
  • Literacy Trainer for the state of California
 
Karen’s extensive background and experience in various capacities and schools has provided her with the tools and ability to create immediate impact and long term, sustainable improvement in the schools to which she has been assigned. Prior to consulting, Karen served as Vice Principal at a Title 1 Elementary School where she led the implementation of various literacy programs, including Close Reading strategies with complex text in K-6th grade, and Integration of Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking with all core curriculum. As a result, ELA 2018 CAASPP score increased by 17.7% in only three years. At another school, after only two years as an Instructional Coach the Title 1 Elementary School exited School Assisted Intervention Team (SAIT) and Program Improvement status.
 
In addition, Karen holds a Master’s Degree in Education, and credentials for teaching administration. She is CLAD certified, holds a Montessori Credential, completed graduate work in special education, and is a State Certified Interpreter for Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
 
Karen credits her consistent track record of success to her passion for creating opportunities for teachers to engage their students and the belief that Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think. (Albert Einstein)
