Melanie Renfrow
Biography
Dr. Melanie Renfrow has a decade of experience in teaching and teacher support. She began teaching in a middle school and has spent the last 6 years in grades K-2. Melanie has worked with MTSS and RTI frameworks to provide support for all students in her school site, with an emphasis on having all students read by 3rd grade. She has been a reading intervention teacher for the last 3 years supporting her school’s most struggling readers. She was recently the recipient of a district award for significantly increasing her students’ reading scores. With a doctorate in teacher education with an emphasis on incorporating culturally relevant pedagogy through literacy, Melanie is passionate about equitable literacy practices. She values what students bring to the classroom and loves supporting teachers and students’ literacy development.
